Playing together is a concern that preoccupies every conductor and every musician who performs in any context other than solo. Far beyond simply stacking notes vertically on top of one another, it is about finding an osmotic connection between the musicians, feeling the lines, phrases, and movements of the music, and adopting a shared breathing that fundamentally transforms the interpretation.
